another little update

Hello! So I thought I'd do another little update to show what I've been upto. The first image is one of a few card designs I've been working on. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you more soon but for now I'll just say- Cute Dragonnnnsss!!!!

The second image is for a local band called White Soul Project who asked me to do their new album's cover. I'm taking the full size thing down to them later today and they've kindly let me add it to the blog for all to see. If you've seen my kid's book you may notice the stylistic link, esp with the cat- Asa insisted haha. This has been a very interesting fun project, esp because of the huge shift in styles as we found out what they wanted and as the album developed and whatnot.

Anyways, I'm not sure what else there is to say. I go on holiday soon! Whoop! I don't know where to though, its a big surprise from the boyfriend. :D :D :D Exciting times.

Valleys Time

So I've been thinking about some paintings I've been asked to do for various galleries. They mostly want the pictures to be 'more Welsh' or 'more Valleys-like'. So here I've been trying out an idea. I don't think I've got there yet but this was one intriguing so I thought I'd put this up. Its a bit sort of half way-real and thats not quite what I want but finding the median between the usual stuff I chuck out and something more real is strange. Its also weirdly hard to get the light balance right when you have no reference whatsoever. So I resolve to use reference next time! Haha! This is scaled down from A3 so I hope it hasn't lost too much.

Epic Thanks to Glam SU

Well this university year I've been featured inthe Glamorgan students union newsletter no less then 3 times! Each one was a lovely surprise for me and I'd like to thank Bob Davies who seems to be the man responsible for this :)
The newsletter is emailed out to students on a weekly basis with a sort of round up of whats going on around abnd about the place. They also have a website where I've hunted down each of the articles to add here. So this post is partly to say thank you to Bob and partly to make sure I've recorded the info, hehe. Below are screen shot from the emailed newsletter and underneath each image is a text link to its respective news article on the website.

The times they are a-changing

So University has all but come to an end. Theres still a few things to finish up and then I can really launch the little side projects I've got. I took half an hour to draw a picture just now to try and bridge that gap between lots of university work and something different. In the summer I have a few gallery shows which need images for them which need to be a bit more Welsh than my stuff so far. So I tried to go for something a little different but mostly tried to have fun and just enjoy exploring random colour and making shapes that make more sense than the first random ones I threw down. This picture was first called Future Worlds but only because I needed to name the file and a song called that was playing, it doesn't really have a name right now though. Anyways, thought I'd share it, let me know what you think :)

Showreel Time!!

So here it is, the video that sums up the culmination of 4 years hard work at Uni. I'm really happy with the whole thing so please give it a look-see. Its the Glammies tomorrow, the end of year show for Uni. I'm so excited! I love that everything is a bit unknown right now, hopefully it turns out well for everyone. Theres a lot of lovely people nominated for the Glammies this year including, in a way, myself! My background are up as part of Bryony's film. Good times.

Well here I am again jabbering on about my children's book to you. I've just finished the 'This book belongs to' page and after a Hell-like day of trying to make it and another page I thought I might as well upload and show the fruits of my labour. I'm only showing the 'this books belongs to' page because the other one suffered unfortunate file over-writing and I'll almost certainly have to redo it. Ahwell, nevermind, live and learn. Anyways, I'm really happy with the page you see below, please click it to see it bigger. PS I'm going to get this book actually printed! Whoo! Only one for myself though it'd be too expensive otherwise haha.

sleepy time

Hey just thought I'd update you on the pirate project a bit. Things have changed slightly, I've got an overall look to the thing now. The textures need to change so that they are ones I've made (currently they are freebie ones grabbed off the net) but its all good. I've just been given an extra week on this which is a blessing, it means I can mock up the whole book and even send it to print! Whoo, happy times. :D

Its quite an old video that me and my boyfriend used to love watching on tv but only recently we found out who the band was. We always seemed to miss the idents but anyway its a great video with lovely cg effects and timing. Enjoy!
